ELC METPROGRAMS

Conditionally admitted students can join the ELC's Monarch English Transition Program (formerly known as the Bridge Program). The 本科 and RESEARCH生 Monarch English Transition (MET) Programs combine two English language support courses with one to two courses in the student's academic field. Successful completion of the semester-long MET Program satisfies the University's English proficiency requirement.

Conditionally admitted students may enter the MET by successfully meeting the Level 2 exit requirements of the ODU ELC's 强化英语课程 or by scoring a 500-547 on the 托福考试 ITP, 托福网考61-78分, or 5.5-6.雅思成绩0分.

国际 students must submit an application to the Office of 国际招生.

Permanent Residents must submit a domestic application to the Office of 入学s. 被bet8体育娱乐入口录取后, students with the requisite English proficiency level are placed in the MET Program.

The 本科 MET Program is a university program designed for undergraduate students who are nonnative English speakers. Conditionally admitted students can enter the MET Program by meeting the Level 2 exit requirements of the ODU ELC's 强化英语课程 or by scoring a 500-547 on the 托福考试 ITP, 托福网考61-78分, or 5.5-6.雅思成绩0分.

The 本科 MET Program curriculum combines 6-8 hours of credit courses with two noncredit courses in English as a second language.

Conditionally admitted students can enter the MET Program by meeting the Level 2 exit requirements of the ODU ELC's 强化英语课程 or by scoring a 500-547 on the 托福考试 ITP, 托福网考61-78分, or 5.5-6.雅思成绩0分. RESEARCH生PROGRAMS有不同的录取标准. Please check with your graduate academic program to determine whether they accept participation in the MET Program.

MET重复政策

Students not meeting the successful completion requirements will have the ability to repeat the MET semester under the following circumstances:

  1. If the student meets the GPA requirement for either Academic or the English component.
    • 本科: Students receiving a "C" or better in both English classes may be allowed to take only one of the English classes during the repeat semester.
    • RESEARCH生: Students receiving a "C" or better in both English classes may be allowed to take only one of the English classes during the repeat semester.
  2. 第一学期后未受到学术警告者
  3. If the GPD or academic advisor requests in writing a second semester for the student.

Students not meeting any of the above criteria will have their case reviewed by the MET advisory committee to determine if a second semester is warranted.

Students not receiving a second semester will have the ability to submit other accepted forms of English proficiency to continue their studies.

Students unsuccessful in a second semester of MET will not be allowed a third semester except in extreme hardship cases due to illness or other issues beyond the student's control.
